Milyang is an elder of an Indigenous Peoples tribe, and is one the the last of their cultural dancers. She was a dancer in her youth and was able to travel the country sharing the cultural dances of the Aetas. Now in her twilight years, she shares her knowledge and history with the children of the village … and to participants of our Tribes and Treks trips.
She and her husband were not blessed with children and are among the eldest in the tribe. Her husband used to be a hunter of wild boar, and brought home many kills for meat to the tribe. However, the combination of deforestation and the explosion of Pinatubo have made these large boar kills less frequent and have slowly become more fictitious in the minds of the tribe children.
She and her husband are now backyard farmers in the Yangil tribe.
Meet Ate Milyang and learn to dance with her when you join us for Tribes and Treks.
